Man shot for hacking pa, shooting lawman

A 31-YEAR-OLD man who hacked and seriously wounded his father  who refused to yield in San Pedro, Laguna, was shot dead when he fired at an officer Tuesday, officials said yesterday.

Norvy Fernando, armed with a .357 Smith & Wesson revolver shot Police Officer 2 Rodel Mamales in the neck prompting the latter to retaliate. The suspect died while being taken to the Family Care Hospital in Barangay San Vicente, San Pedro town, said Police Regional Office 4-A director Chief Superintendent Samuel D. Pagdilao Jr.

Investigators said Fernando hacked his father Norberto, 53, inside their house at Block 17, Lot 16 in Bgy. Calendola at 11 a.m. The victim was brought to the Amante Emergency Hospital.

The suspect hid inside their house which was surrounded by members of the San Pedro Municipal Police Station and the Laguna Provincial Public Safety Company.

Four hours later, the suspect shot Mamales, prompting the latter to fire back. Recovered from the suspect was a .357 revolver with two live bullets.
